Oilfield Safety

Casper, WY (AP):  Interest in a Wyoming energy industry safety conference is up sharply since 2009.  The Safety Summit and Exposition sponsored by the Wyoming Oil and Gas Industry Safety Alliance takes place Wednesday in Casper.  The Casper Star-Tribune reports about 280 people pre-registered this year, more than double the attendance of the first conference two years ago.

Casper, WY (AP):  Wyoming attorney general Greg Phillips says converting permanent state employees to at-will employees who can be fired without reason would require giving them compensation.  Phillips tells state officials that permanent employees have a property right to continued employment.

Cowboys Take a Hit

(AP) - Chuckie Keeton threw five touchdown passes and Michael Smith ran for two more scores as Utah State cruised past Wyoming 63-19 on Saturday night. Robert Turbin also ran for 109 yards, his fourth-consecutive 100-plus-yard game for the Aggies (2-3). Turbin scored a TD on the ground and caught a 19-yard Keeton pass for a score, becoming the Aggies' fourth all-time leading career scorer.
