Wolves Dont Let Up

The 2-1 Green River Wolves traveled north to face the winless Cody Broncs on Friday night. The high flying Wolf-Pack offense stumbled early on, and was unable to perform at its usual dominance during most of the game. The game saw no score through the middle of the second quarter when Cody would score their first touchdown.

The Green River Wolves Varsity Football team took home the win homecoming weekend with a 48-10 victory over the Worland Warriors.

City Council Meeting

The Green River City Council met once again this week, and it was  a meeting chalk full of proclamations.  October was proclaimed National Disability Employment Awareness month  by Mayor Hank Castillon.  In partnership with many Wyoming businesses and organizations, the programs purpose is to make citizens with disabilities aware of their rights in the work place.

Cowboys Face Aggies

The fifth longest running rivalry in Wyoming Cowboys history is set to carve another notch in the wall as The Utah State Aggies host the Cowboys Saturday night.  The 3-1 Cowboys are coming off of a bye week after their loss to now #15 Nebraska.

Wolves vs Jackson

It was quite the snowy fall day Thursday, so the Wolves headed to the hardwood. The 4-1 Green River Wolves were once again voted #1 in the 3a division again this week after dropping in the polls for a few weeks.  The Wolves first opponent of the year Douglas, now ranks #2 in the state.

Cowboys Take a Hit

(AP) - Chuckie Keeton threw five touchdown passes and Michael Smith ran for two more scores as Utah State cruised past Wyoming 63-19 on Saturday night. Robert Turbin also ran for 109 yards, his fourth-consecutive 100-plus-yard game for the Aggies (2-3). Turbin scored a TD on the ground and caught a 19-yard Keeton pass for a score, becoming the Aggies' fourth all-time leading career scorer.

Bridger Valley Game

The Mountain View Buffalos look to rebound after a tough loss to their rivals, the Lyman Eagles. Mountain View will travel to Thermopolis to take on the two time defending 2A champion Bobcats.

This game has major playoff implications as the loser will not be headed to the post-season. If Mountain View wins, they will still need a win over Kemmerer in the final week of the season to make the trip to November football.

October School Board Meeting

School District #2 had its monthly meeting this week, and the color guard from Troop 312 kicked things off by leading the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. A short while later Chairman Tim Harding announced the winner of the School District Number Two Teacher of the Year award for 2011. The school board and the attending audience gave a standing ovation as Tammy Noble's name was announced. Tammy Noble is a twenty year veteran of District Number 2 and goes above and beyond to teach children with special needs.

Cowboys Defeat UNLV

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Brett Smith passed for two touchdowns and caught a pass for another to lead Wyoming past UNLV 41-14 on Saturday. The victory, in the Mountain West Conference opener for both teams, snapped a two-game losing streak for Wyoming (4-2, 1-0). It was Wyoming's fourth consecutive home-game victory against the Rebels. Smith completed 10 of 19 passes for 96 yards and rushed 10 times for 59 yards. Chris McNeill added a 76-yard score on a punt return, making up for a fumbled punt earlier in the game.
