Woodward Wins Weekly Award

Wyoming Cowgirl and Sheridan native Kayla Woodward won the Mountain West Conference's player of the week award for the week dating Jan. 30 through Feb 5. This is Kayla's second player of the week award of her young career and the second in three weeks.

Woodward, a 5-11 freshman from Sheridan, Wyo., led the Cowgirls to a 2-0 record last week with wins over TCU (64-54) and UNLV (51-47, OT) to move into a three-way tie for third place in the Mountain West standings. She averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists, while shooting 56.0 percent (14-25) from the field and 77.8 (7-9) from the free throw line in the two contests.

Woodward and the Cowgirls will be hosting the University of New Mexico Lady Lobos this Saturday February 11 in the Arena Auditorium in Laramie. The lady Pokes are now 5-3 in conference play. The Lobos are just 1-7 in Mountain West play.
