Improved Wireless Coverage in Sweetwater County
A fund set up to help eliminate dead zones for wireless Internet service nationwide is awarding nearly $33 million to expand coverage in Colorado and Wyoming. The Federal Communications Commission said Wednesday that Union Telephone Company is getting nearly 23 million dollars for Carbon, Fremont and Sweetwater Counties. In Colorado, NE Colorado Cellular Inc. is receiving almost 32 million dollars and ATN/Commet is receiving almost 650 thousand dollars.. The money will be used to fill in gaps for 3G and 4G coverage. The companies must complete their work within three years and make their networks available to other providers.
